Our man with the shiny horn, Derek is the band’s fitness freak – cycling and running unfeasibly long distances for ‘fun’. When not doing that, he’s learning the genius sax solos that feature in so many Dan numbers.
His previous artistic highlight was at the back end of a pantomime cow. Then Steve suggested he might want to ‘learn to work the saxophone’…..while his long-suffering wife and kids wished he had never heard of ‘bloody Becker and Fagen’ (their words, not ours)
